Enjoy a content-generation adventure!

The best ideas rarely come when we are hypnotised by our screens. Here I share some ideas to get you outside, generating content whilst you're on the move.

The best ideas rarely come when we are hypnotised by our screens.

I know mine arrive like a bolt of lightning when I’m in the shower or walking, neither of which are particularly convenient.

I’m trying to get more outdoor time into my work week, so I’ve been exploring ways I can generate content for LinkedIn whilst getting my steps in and enjoying the better weather.

I do this by taking some question prompts with me and using the transcription app on my phone to record my responses. Then when I’m back at my desk I have the basis of lots of posts which I just need to tidy up, job done!

(You just have to get over the fact that people might think you’re a bit of a muppet talking to yourself!)

These questions will develop content that will help your audience get to know you or your brand and develop LIKING:

·     What about your work makes you the proudest and why?

·     What do your clients/customers tell you they love about working with you?

·     What’s important to you about the way you work?

·     What values do you hold in your work and personal life?

·     What is significant, important or unusual about your life story and how has that influenced the way you work?

·     What frustrates you about your industry, and what positive future do you see?

These questions will develop content that will position you as an expert and develop TRUST:

·     What lightbulb moments / transformations have you helped clients experience?

·     What is the best piece of advice you regularly give?

·     What tools or frameworks have you used recently that have been particularly effective?

·     What have you read / learned recently that has influenced your work?

·     What is the most common challenge you hear from customers, and how do you overcome that?

Finally, it’s important to remind people regularly how they can work with you. The following questions can help you to share content that encourages people to BUY, without feeling too pushy.

·     What is your favourite kind of work to do, and what value does it create for the customer?

·     Do you enjoy different types of working? What are they, and how do they work for different people?

·     What is the latest project you are proud of, and can you break down what was involved?

NOTE: It’s a good idea to include a call to action on all posts, encouraging people to engage and leave comments. When you’re sharing BUY content, tell people how they can get in touch.  Remember you want them to take one simple action!

I hope that’s a helpful starting point to take you away from your screen and get those creative juices flowing.

I’d love to hear if you give this a try!
